Agreed, sounds like a bunch of insecure teenagers trying to tear people down for things they can't help so they can feel better about their own misshapen bodies. Luna is shitty enough of her own accord; no need to get all up in arms over things that she has no control over when she doesn't even pretend to be a flawless aphrodite like many of the cows here. It's just self-serving tryhardery at that point.
Maybe anons theory of them using Roger's potential ssi funds for rent isn't to far off? My grandpa used to get like 1200 a month from ssi but it's probably gone up since then and if they get some sort of housing assistance usually they would only have to pay 1/3 of their income. Which would leave plenty to live off of comfortably for the month unless you are using your funds for drugs or useless amazon crap like tuna buys
There is no cure yet, but there are many ways you can decrease or eliminate PCOS symptoms and feel better. Your doctor may offer different medicines that can treat symptoms such as irregular periods, acne, excess hair, and elevated blood sugar. Fertility treatments are available to help women get pregnant. Losing as little as 5% excess weight can help women ovulate more regularly and lessen other PCOS symptoms. The ideal way to do this is through nutrition and exercise.
PCOS seems to be inherited. Female relatives or children of patients with PCOS are at increased risk for having PCOS. Environmental risk factors, including low birth weight, rapid weight gain in infancy, early pubic hair and puberty development, childhood obesity, excess adult weight, and unhealthy lifestyle, are also important and may interact with genes to lead to PCOS (called epigenetics).
Oh ffs Tuna, Courtney Love was a dirty junkie but she had style that was her own and in some of her brighter moments really knew how to dress herself. She also had talent (although i do think some farmers might disagree) - the heroin aesthetic doesn't really work if you're just a lazy do nothing that spends your days cuddling with filthy hello kitty dolls and taking pictures of your raggedy trash outfits. Go learn how to play the guitar and stop whining.
Our laboratory search included investigations into the effects of herbal medicine using computer models, cell cultures, animals with PCOS induced with oestradiol valerate and androgens and sterilised and ovariectomised rats. We excluded laboratory studies which commenced using isolated chemicals not directly extracted from crude herbal medicines and studies examining androgen effects in male animals.

In PCOS, both ovaries tend to be enlarged, as much as three times their normal size. Eggs that do not mature fully are not released during ovulation and the immature eggs remain in the ovary as pearl-sized, fluid filled sacs. Over the course of time, many cysts may develop into what looks like a string of beads when viewed through ultrasound imaging. In as many as 90% of women with PCOS, an ultrasound of the ovaries will reveal cysts.
In some cases, a woman doesn’t make enough of the hormones needed to ovulate. When ovulation doesn’t happen, the ovaries can develop many small cysts. These cysts make hormones called androgens. Women with PCOS often have high levels of androgens. This can cause more problems with a woman’s menstrual cycle. And it can cause many of the symptoms of PCOS.

A malfunction of the body's blood sugar control system (insulin system) is frequent in women with PCOS, who often have insulin resistance and elevated blood insulin levels. Researchers believe that these abnormalities may be related to the development of PCOS. It is also known that the ovaries of women with PCOS produce excess amounts of male hormones known as androgens. This excessive production of male hormones may be a result of or related to the abnormalities in insulin production.
2-Hour oral glucose tolerance test (GTT) in women with risk factors (obesity, family history, history of gestational diabetes)[17] may indicate impaired glucose tolerance (insulin resistance) in 15–33% of women with PCOS.[62] Frank diabetes can be seen in 65–68% of women with this condition.[citation needed] Insulin resistance can be observed in both normal weight and overweight people, although it is more common in the latter (and in those matching the stricter NIH criteria for diagnosis); 50–80% of people with PCOS may have insulin resistance at some level.[17]

Patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) who have impaired glucose tolerance should start a comprehensive program of diet and exercise to reduce their risk of developing diabetes mellitus. Encourage moderate physical activity, provided the patient has no contraindications. Discourage smoking because of the increased risk of cardiovascular disease. In addition, obese women with PCOS can benefit from a low-calorie diet for weight reduction.
A neck lump or nodule is the most common symptom of thyroid cancer. You may feel a lump, notice one side of your neck appears to be different, or your doctor may find it during a routine examination. If the tumor is large, it may cause neck or facial pain, shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, cough unrelated to a cold, hoarseness or voice change.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition associated with hormone imbalances that affects women. Though the underlying cause of PCOS is not known or well understood, it is believed that an imbalance of sex hormones and resistance to the effects of the hormone insulin are the main problems. These problems result in a characteristic group of signs, symptoms and complications such as excess facial and body hair, irregular menstrual periods, infertility, and insulin resistance.
As many as 70% of PCOS women are insulin resistant and 10% have DM[20-22]. In PCOS women with normal glucose metabolism initially, the rate of conversion to abnormal glucose metabolism can be 25% over just three years[23]. More alarming, insulin abnormalities are highly prevalent in adolescents with PCOS[24]. Almost 20% of young Thai women with PCOS actually have DM[25]. Overall, normal glucose levels on an OGTT do not predict IR and IR, despite normal glucose levels, is correlated with CRP, dyslipidemia and other CAD risk factors[26]. Therefore, glucose levels alone lack the sensitivity to predict metabolic risk in PCOS patients. Precursor states of insulin abnormalities likely predict long term CAD risk well before glucose abnormalities. IR can be just as severe in diabetics and non-diabetics[27], stressing the seriousness of this metabolic impairment as a precursor and not a separate disease. Animal models have shown that IR alone damages myocardial cells, providing direct evidence of end organ disease[28]. Human data link HOMA-IR to left ventricular dysfunction[29]. Abnormal glucose metabolism short of IGT and DM still deserves attention, identification and treatment[30].
Androgens. All females make androgens (also referred to as “male hormones”), but there are often higher levels of androgens in women with PCOS. The excess androgens are produced mostly by the ovaries, but the adrenal glands can also be involved. Excess androgens are responsible for many PCOS symptoms including acne, unwanted hair, thinning hair, and irregular periods.

The Androgen Excess and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Society recommends lifestyle management as the primary therapy for metabolic complications in overweight and obese women with PCOS. [67] A moderate amount of daily exercise increases levels of IGF-1 binding protein and decreases levels of IGF-1 by 20%. Modest weight loss of 2-5% of total body weight can help restore ovulatory menstrual periods in obese patients with PCOS. A decrease of 500-1000 calories daily, along with 150 minutes of exercise per week, can cause ovulation.
Metformina.

i understand that it's kind of the name of the game on this website but it just gets repetitive and boring after a while hearing people say the same things over and over again about her looks when 1) she really couldn't change it unless she had a ton of money (but we all know that'd just go to drugs) 2) like >>403879 and >>403866 said, she knows she's unattractive so there's no point in pointing out her bad physical qualities when everyone, including herself, gets it. and 3) most of the things that are being pointed out and mocked are normal and a lot of the people who post on this thread probably have the same things (like stretch marks. even if you aren't fat you can get those lol)
ok yeah i doubt anyone ACTUALLY said it, but i think if someone did in fact say it to her, they were just saying it to be nice. not because they meant it as an oddly kind insult. but i think luna makes up a lot of the social interactions she has. not the social interactions themselves, but the things people supposedly do or say during those interactions..
Herbal remedies are found as dried extracts (teas, capsules or powders),glycerites or tinctures (alcohol extracts). You should never start any type of natural treatment for PCOS like herbs without talking to your doctor. Many people are under the misconception that because herbs are natural they cannot cause any damage to the body. This is incorrect. Herbs are very powerful and obviously impact the body strongly or you would not be considering them to treat physical symptoms and disorders. Most of the synthetic drugs on the market have base sources from herbs like Digitalis from foxglove. Herbs are like any other medication you might be taking which means they can also influence drugs and other herbs either positively or negatively. For example, some herbs can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills (ued as a PCOS treatment) which could create some interesting surprises in your life.

I don't believe that Luna goes ~3 days without eating uwu~ often like she claims, but she probably doesn't eat much at all on days where she's e-begging. The junk food she shares on Instagram? Pretty sure she only eats that stuff occasionally. She probably doesn't have enough money for food a lot of the time, and binges on sugary things when they get paid. Junkies will choose drugs over food, and unless Pat's dropping off groceries EVERY WEEK I think she probably skips a lot of meals/doesn't eat that many calories a day.

Contrary to the implication of “polycystic,” some women with the condition don’t have any cysts. A diagnosis requires only two of the following three criteria to be met: elevated levels of male sex hormones (which can cause excess hair growth, acne, and baldness), irregular or absent periods, and/or at least 12 follicular cysts on one or both ovaries.

Ask your health care provider about treating hair growth. Only you and your health care provider can decide which treatment is right for you. Options may include bleaching, waxing, depilatories, spironolactone (spi-ro-no-lac-tone), electrolysis, and laser treatment. Spironolactone is a prescription medicine that can lessen hair growth and make hair lighter and finer. However, it can take up to 6-8 months to see an improvement.
Sperm capacitation must be evaluated to perform the low-complexity treatment (semen evaluation after preparation to estimate the number of sperm with progressive motility, which includes those that theoretically have the ability to ascend the female reproductive tract in vivo and fertilize the egg in the fallopian tube). Thus, the semen is centrifuged and the concentration of capacitated sperm recovered is measured as follows: >10 million recovered motile sperms (any infertility treatment is viable); >5 million (IUI, in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) may be performed); between 1 and 5 million (IVF or ICSI may be performed); and <1 million (only ICSI can be performed) 27,28. It is worth noting that if the patient presents with bilateral tubal occlusion in the initial assessment, sperm capacitation is only performed to evaluate the possibility of performing IVF or ICSI 8.
When the former NFL cheerleader Natalie Nirchi stopped menstruating at age 17, she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a hormone disorder affecting up to 10 percent of women of reproductive age. She didn’t initially show any of the physical symptoms, like excess hair growth, cystic acne, or obesity, but a blood test revealed that she had high levels of testosterone and an ultrasound showed cysts on her ovaries.

During a transvaginal ultrasound, your doctor or a medical technician inserts a wandlike device (transducer) into your vagina while you lie on your back on an exam table. The transducer emits sound waves that generate images of your pelvic organs, including your ovaries. On an ultrasound image (inset), a polycystic ovary shows many follicles. Each dark circle on the ultrasound image represents a fluid-filled follicle in the ovary. Your doctor may suspect PCOS if you have 20 or more follicles in each ovary.
I was diagnosed with pcos while using implanon birth control in November 2012. I was told it was che...mical, it was symptom and blood diagnosed not with cysts on my ovaries. My ob/gyn told me that implanon can cause pcos and many other terrible medical conditions. I had it removed in January 2013 and have been trying to get pregnant since, after being told I needed a hysterectomy. (I was 24). In the past year I have gotten pregnant twice, both ended with miscarriage. In January this year, I had my blood tested again and I am almost completely normal. I'll always have pcos, it's life long, but the fact that after a year of getting the implanon removed I was able to get my blood back to normal. My endocrinologist called it miraculous!
That pic in the last thread with her collarbones made me laugh so much. Bitch has her arms bent at an awkward angle behind her back you can see where the neck squashes awkwardly on her shoulder because of the abnormal way shes twisting and sticking her neck out. Imagine being a fly on the wall at hers (one of the many) and seeing her take a selfie like that kek
If Chief goes to jail or gets probation, then she may have to. Or otherwise will eventually have to at some point. When addicts' junkie luck runs out and they begin to lose their basic comforts/necessities, they start to do things that they told themselves they'd never do. Nobody started out on heroin telling themselves that they'd do anything for the drug.
One of the biggest challenges in reviewing the evidence for PCOS treatment is that many manifestations of the condition may be components of other disease processes. For example, there may be a study of medications that are useful for hirsutism, but the patient population in the study did not explicitly have PCOS. Thus, recommendations specific for treating symptoms of PCOS may be lacking. When reviewing a study of the treatment of insulin resistance in a general population, it cannot be assumed that the outcomes would mirror those in women with PCOS.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a highly prevalent hormonal and metabolic disorder among reproductive aged women worldwide. Women with PCOS have widely varying phenotypes and seek medical care for differing reasons. In addition to concern for menstrual cycle function, ovulation, hirsutism and acne, many PCOS women have abnormal glucose metabolism. While diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance are easily diagnosed, the diagnosis of and concern for insulin resistance as a precursor disorder is underappreciated. Insulin resistance may be the first important marker of metabolic disease in PCOS women at risk for metabolic syndrome and coronary artery disease.
Red Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus) If you like black tea but do not want caffeine, red raspberry leaf tea is a perfect pleasant tasting alternative. It is one of the most beloved herbs for women in traditional herbal medicine because it strengthens the female reproductive system on many levels. This herb can help stop heavy menstrual bleeding, is high in iron and can strengthen the lining of the uterus which can aid in conception for women with PCOS.
A stroll around the block with your dog (spouse/significant other, neighbor, or exercise buddy), your favorite exercise class at the gym, following a video at home, or peddling on an exercise bike while you watch TV…whatever you choose to get you moving will be good.14 Aim to fit in at least 30 minutes, five times a week – the basic recommendations from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.15
Other pharmacological treatments have attempted to lower IR. Vitamin D has been shown to decrease HOMA-IR despite a lack of change in hyperandrogenism in young, obese PCOS women[99]. Animal studies have demonstrated that treatment with glycyrrhizic acid affecting lipoprotein lipase activity decreases serum insulin and HOMA-IR[100]. Although oral contraceptive pills positively affect hyperandrogenism, they have little to no effect on glucose metabolism by OGTT[101]. Long term oral contraceptive pill use may have some limited benefit in IR but data are limited[102]. A 6 mo course of oral contraceptive pill treatment in adolescent obese PCOS women has demonstrated some improvement in IR[103].

This comprehensive 5-Element System will support your body’s ability to balance hormones by helping to improve your energy, lose weight, regulate your period and ovulation, balance moods, reverse and stop dark, coarse dark facial and body hair growth, stop thinning hair and regrow new beautiful hair, improve skin health and improve blood sugar balance, along with a myriad of hormonal symptoms including digestion.

This high potency blend of botanicals and antioxidants focuses on supporting the vessels of the cardiovascular system as well as cellular vitality, that can be compromised in women with PCOS and insulin resistance.* Over time, the interior lining of blood vessels are damaged when insulin levels are elevated and this damage contributes to the formation of Cardiovascular Disease. Elevated insulin also causes free radical damage and vessel injuries which are important factors in the progression of PCOS and Insulin Resistance. RejuvaPlus contains high quality antioxidants designed to support cardiovascular vessel integrity, minimize free-radical damage. An additional benefit is supporting immune function.
Evidence suggests that metformin frequently, but not universally, improves ovulation rates and pregnancy rates in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), especially in obese women. [2, 3, 70] In addition, pretreatment with metformin has been shown to enhance the efficacy of clomiphene for inducing ovulation. [71] Consider the combination of metformin and clomiphene in older women with visceral obesity and clomiphene resistance. [2] However, this combination doesn’t significantly improve the live birth rate relative to clomiphene monotherapy. [2] Whether short-course metformin pretreatment (less than 4 weeks) is as effective as conventional long-course metformin remains uncertain. [5, 72]
The cysts (fluid filled sacs) in the ovaries can be identified with imaging technology. (However, as noted above, women without PCOS can have many cysts as well.) Ultrasound , which passes sound waves through the body to create a picture of the kidneys, is used most often to look for cysts in the ovaries. Ultrasound imaging employs no injected dyes or radiation and is safe for all patients including pregnant women. It can also detect cysts in the kidneys of a fetus. Because women without PCOS can have ovarian cysts , and because ovarian cysts are not part of the definition of PCOS, ultrasound is not routinely ordered to diagnose PCOS. The diagnosis is usually a clinical one based on the patient's history, physical examination, and laboratory testing.
Pharmaceutical treatment for menstrual irregularity includes the oral contraceptive pill (OCP) and ovulation induction with clomiphene citrate (clomiphene) [20, 21] depending on fertility needs. Women with PCOS are however likely to exhibit contraindications for the OCP [3] and whilst induction of ovulation with clomiphene has demonstrated success, pregnancy rates remain inexplicably low [4]. Up to thirty 30% of women, particularly overweight women with PCOS, fail to respond to clomiphene therapy [4, 22, 23]. Management for hyperandrogenism includes anti-androgens and hypoglycaemic pharmaceuticals such as metformin [24]. Metfomin has demonstrated effectiveness for improving insulin sensitivity and hyperandrogenism, however use of metformin is associated with the high incidence of adverse effects including nausea, vomiting and gastro-intestinal disturbances [5].
Selection of herbal medicines for the management of PCOS often includes the combined prescription of Glycyrrhiza spp. and Paeonia lactiflora[72–75]. We found preliminary evidence for this combination for hyperandrogenism only, and the evidence was more robust for Glycyrrhiza spp. alone than when combined with Paeonia lactiflora. Comparatively, our findings for the combination of Peaonia lactiflora and Cinnamomum cassia demonstrated no change in androgen concentration, suggesting that the anti-androgen activity in the Glycyrrhiza spp. and Paeonia lactiflora combination more likely attributable to Glycyrrhiza spp. However our findings may be complicated by the aqueous extraction methods used in the Paeonia lactiflora and Cinnamomum cassia combination and the preclinical studies into the Glycorrhizza spp and Paeonia lactiflora combination. More research into the anti-androgen effects of the combination Glycyrrhiza spp. and Paeonia lactiflora is needed to clarify the anti-androgen mechanism particularly if this herbal combination remains cornerstone herbal management for hyperandrogenism.

Yeah, PCOS isn't period-dependent. That said, there are some suspicious blood stains in Luna's apartment that look like leaks (though they could possibly be explained by shooting up). Though since she does have PCOS, painful periods are one of those things she actually has grounds to complain about. Apparently they're often excruciating beyond belief with the condition.
Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most common endocrinopathy among reproductive-aged women in the United States, affecting approximately 7% of female patients. Although the pathophysiology of the syndrome is complex and there is no single defect from which it is known to result, it is hypothesized that insulin resistance is a key factor. Metabolic syndrome is twice as common in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome compared with the general population, and patients with polycystic ovary syndrome are four times more likely than the general population to develop type 2 diabetes mellitus. Patient presentation is variable, ranging from asymptomatic to having multiple gynecologic, dermatologic, or metabolic manifestations. Guidelines from the Endocrine Society recommend using the Rotterdam criteria for diagnosis, which mandate the presence of two of the following three findings—hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovaries—plus the exclusion of other diagnoses that could result in hyperandrogenism or ovulatory dysfunction. It is reasonable to delay evaluation for polycystic ovary syndrome in adolescent patients until two years after menarche. For this age group, it is also recommended that all three Rotterdam criteria be met before the diagnosis is made. Patients who have marked virilization or rapid onset of symptoms require immediate evaluation for a potential androgen-secreting tumor. Treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome is individualized based on the patient's presentation and desire for pregnancy. For patients who are overweight, weight loss is recommended. Clomiphene and letrozole are first-line medications for infertility. Metformin is the first-line medication for metabolic manifestations, such as hyperglycemia. Hormonal contraceptives are first-line therapy for irregular menses and dermatologic manifestations.

Complementary medicine (CM) use by women has increased during the past ten years [7–11] with rates of use ranging between 26% and 91% [8, 9]. One of the popular types of CM is herbal medicine [11, 12]. Herbal medicines are known to contain pharmacologically active constituents with physiological effects on female endocrinology and have been positively associated with reduced incidences of breast cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease [13–18].
Your health care provider will ask you a lot of questions about your menstrual cycle and your general health, and then do a complete physical examination. You will most likely need to have a blood test to check your hormone levels, blood sugar, and lipids (including cholesterol). Your health care provider may also want you to have an ultrasound test. This is a test that uses sound waves to make a picture of your reproductive organs (ovaries and uterus) and bladder (where your urine is stored). In girls with PCOS, the ovaries may be slightly larger (often >10cc in volume) and have multiple tiny cysts.
