A long-term study suggested that metformin continued to improve the metabolic profile of women with PCOS over a 36-month treatment course, particularly improving circulating high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), diastolic blood pressure, and body mass index (BMI). [61] However, data are insufficient as yet to recommend metformin to all women with PCOS.

Some other blood tests are suggestive but not diagnostic. The ratio of LH (Luteinizing hormone) to FSH (Follicle-stimulating hormone), when measured in international units, is elevated in women with PCOS. Common cut-offs to designate abnormally high LH/FSH ratios are 2:1[66] or 3:1[62] as tested on Day 3 of the menstrual cycle. The pattern is not very sensitive; a ratio of 2:1 or higher was present in less than 50% of women with PCOS in one study.[66] There are often low levels of sex hormone-binding globulin,[62] in particular among obese or overweight women.[citation needed]
Hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp techniques rely on an intravenous insulin infusion to maintain steady serum glucose concentrations at fasting levels to measure glucose uptake. Lower glucose uptake signifies resistance to insulin action (i.e. IR). Since the technique requires intravenous infusions, frequent blood sampling, extensive time and significant financial resources, it is experimentally useful but clinically cumbersome[45]. Clamp studies in PCOS women show conflicting results; some studies show IR only in obese PCOS women[46] and others demonstrate IR in lean PCOS patients[47]. Of importance, the studies which failed to demonstrate IR in lean PCOS women did, however, demonstrate elevated basal insulin levels compared to weight matched, non PCOS controls[46]. Other sophisticated testing methods using intravenous infusions of insulin have been attempted (insulin sensitivity test and insulin tolerance test) but they do not alleviate the time, financial and testing burdens to make them relevant for widespread clinical practice and normal cutoffs are not widely disseminated[45]. Clamp techniques have been used as comparisons to validate other modes of assessment of IR.
In anovulatory women with PCOS defined according to the Rotterdam consensus (includes all phenotypes except the one defined by the association of hyperandrogenism with ultrasound (US) findings), CC treatment is the first choice for ovulation induction 9,15. This drug is an estrogen receptor modulator (it can act as an estrogen agonist or antagonist) and its mechanism of action is controversial but can be explained as follows. In physiological menstrual cycles, low levels of estrogen promote negative feedback in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland and inhibit the endogenous secretion of gonadotropin during the early follicular phase. When CC is administered in this phase of the cycle, it competes with estrogen for its receptors in the hypothalamus and pituitary, which will block the negative feedback mechanism. Consequently, increased levels of endogenous gonadotropins are released and the dominant follicle is recruited (follicle that has the highest number of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) receptors) between the sixth and ninth day of the menstrual cycle 16.
they do seem vain but to be fair, she did get them years ago, before she turned into the grimy junkie she is today. at the time she got them (i've been following her since like 2011-2012), they seemed really clever to me. i can't really recall her scamming people for money and whatnot at that point. she was just a young girl who mentioned her abusive mother and stuff and i think most people just thought of the tattoos like "oh she's got such amazing self confidence! i'm inspired!"
The unfortunate truth is that there is no cure for PCOS. But because the disorder can have a profound effect on your health and well-being, treatment is a must. There is one important thing to know about your options: Because the cause of PCOS is still unknown, appropriate therapies are based on a woman’s individual concerns. Is she bothered most about excess hair growth? Does she want to have a baby? Does she need to get her periods back on track?

Side effects: Some people who are allergic to ragweed and other plants in the same family are also allergic to milk thistle so taking this herb might cause an allergic reaction. Occasionally people taking milk thistle will complain of gastrointestinal issues but this is rare. I t may also lower blood sugar levels so if you have hypoglycemia or diabetes you might want to try another herbal .

Vitamin D deficiency may play some role in the development of the metabolic syndrome, so treatment of any such deficiency is indicated.[74][75] However, a systematic review of 2015 found no evidence that vitamin D supplementation reduced or mitigated metabolic and hormonal dysregulations in PCOS.[76] As of 2012, interventions using dietary supplements to correct metabolic deficiencies in people with PCOS had been tested in small, uncontrolled and nonrandomized clinical trials; the resulting data is insufficient to recommend their use.[77]
Any lawfags here that can help us out understanding this? From what I roughly gather he's only had Pre-Arraignment so today would be a formal Arraignment deciding whether or not to ask for bail. But his court info says he's already been given ROR so it seems pointless now to come back and decide whether or not to ask for bail or take him to Rikers.

Cinnamon cassia One animal study compared the effectiveness of Cinnamomum cassia with metformin against controls in rats with PCOS. Hormone concentration was measured at 15 and 30 days [48] One pilot RCT demonstrated positive effects for metabolic parameter’s (HOMO and QUICKI) for Cinnamomum cassia in overweight women with PCOS [66] 1. Equivalence for metformin for reduced testosterone in PCOS [48]
The authors hypothesized that something might be going on in the maternal environment in the womb that was causing PCOS in daughters. To get to the bottom of it, the authors first studied pregnant women by measuring a hormone call anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH). Usually, in pregnancy, a women’s AMH levels decrease. But the authors noticed that in women with PCOS, their levels of AMH did not decrease. The next step was to figure out what these high AMH levels might be doing to the daughters of women with PCOS. The authors used mice to model what was happening with human women by treating pregnant mice with AMH. When they were born, the pups of the treated mice had a lot of the same symptoms as women with PCOS: anovulation, higher testosterone levels, fewer litters and fewer pups per litter, among others. They also noticed that the brains of the mouse mothers treated with AMH produce a lot of another hormone, called GnRH. In fact, they produced three times the amount that control mouse mothers did.
The prevalence of infertility in women with PCOS varies between 70 and 80%. According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the evaluation of infertility in women with PCOS or other causes of subfertility should start after six months of attempting pregnancy without success if the couple has regular sexual intercourse (2 to 3 times/week) without using contraceptive methods 7. To optimize the efficacy of the treatment of infertile women with PCOS, evaluations of tubal patency (hysterosalpingography or laparoscopy with chromotubation) and semen analysis (spermogram) are mandatory before deciding on treatment. However, tubal patency evaluation may not be necessary prior to initiating clomiphene citrate (CC) treatment. Notably, if a patient is resistant to this drug and/or requires the use of gonadotropins and/or presents with other causes of infertility, a tubal patency evaluation becomes mandatory prior to initiating the therapeutic treatment of infertility 8.
Miscarriage is the medical term for the spontaneous loss of pregnancy from conception to 20 weeks gestation. Risk factors for a woman having a miscarriage include cigarette smoking, older maternal age, radiation exposure, previous miscarriage, maternal weight, illicit drug use, use of NSAIDs, and trauma or anatomical abnormalities to the uterus. There are five classified types of miscarriage: 1) threatened abortion; 2) incomplete abortion; 3) complete abortion; 4) missed abortion; and (5 septic abortion. While there are no specific treatments to stop a miscarriage, a woman's doctor may advise avoiding certain activities, bed rest, etc. If a woman believes she has had a miscarriage, she needs to seek prompt medical attention.
PCOS is the most common hormone disorder in women and one of the leading causes of infertility, affecting roughly 5-10% of women of childbearing age. The condition can affect girls as young as 11. Because the signs and symptoms often seem unrelated and the diagnostic criteria are not yet clear, most women are not diagnosed until they are in their 20's or 30's. It appears to run in families. Women with sisters who have PCOS are twice as likely to have the condition.

This review synthesises the evidence for mechanisms of effect for herbal medicine in oligo/amenorrhoea, hyperandrogenism and PCOS. Laboratory, animal and clinical studies demonstrate that the herbal medicines Vitex agnus-castus, Cimicifuga racemosa and Tribulus terrestris initiate endocrine effects in the pituitary as measured by lowered prolactin and LH and raised FSH. Four herbal medicines, Tribulus terrestris, Glycyrrhiza spp., (alone and in combination with Paeonia lactiflora), Paeonia lactiflora (in combination with Cinnamomum cassia) and Cinnamomum cassia demonstrated morphological changes in polycystic ovaries and steroidogenesis, including reduced ovarian volume and cysts, lowered androgens, improved insulin sensitivity and increased oestradiol.

Have you all forgotten that she has her own fucking name tattooed on herself? She's a vain bitch, she just says that she finds herself ugly to get compliments. Also, she doesn't really want your advice, she just wants your pity and money. I have no sympathy for her, and even though I don't actively participate in the nitpicking most times, I think it's fair game. If she really wanted to get better, she wouldn't have dropped that therapy group as soon as she realized that it isn't fun to go through therapy.

Treatment of PCOS is individualized and depends on whether or not pregnancy is being sought. Dietary modifications, weight management and regular exercise are important factors in the management of this condition in all women with PCOS, regardless of whether they are trying to conceive or not. Cosmetic treatment options to treat excess body hair, particularly facial hair, include electrolysis, laser treatment and typical medication which act at the hair follicle. There are medical and surgical options to treat the hormone abnormalities associated with PCOS. For women who are not trying to conceive, medical treatment options include oral contraceptives, progestational agents (that induce periods), and drugs that block the production or action of androgens. In some cases, surgery is performed to cauterize the cysts, which results in a decrease in male hormone levels and return of ovulation in some women. Insulin modifiers are useful in those women with high insulin levels and insulin resistance but do not benefit all women with PCOS. The safety of these medications in pregnancy has not been established.
The first step in diagnosing PCOS is to have a complete history and physical examination performed by a trained health care provider. A careful history and physical examination can detect whether androgen excess is causing male-pattern hair growth (hirsutism), acne or hair loss and whether ovulation is occurring normally. Physical examination also can detect high blood pressure and increased abdominal obesity as risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular disease in individuals who are overweight.
Due to the high cost of the procedure, the need for hospitalization, general anesthesia and higher complications risks, ovarian drilling presents low cost effectiveness compared with gonadotropin plus timed intercourse. Moreover, the lack of standardization of the surgical technique and the absence of studies that have evaluated the repercussions of long-term of ovarian drilling demonstrate that this procedure should not be routinely performed but should only be considered as second line of therapy in women with PCOS who will be undergoing laparoscopy for another reason (adnexal mass or pelvic pain, for example). Additionally, ovarian drilling could be an alternative before the assisted reproduction treatment (ART) in individuals without financial conditions for the realization of ART and those who are resistant to CC.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) indicate that lifestyle modifications such as weight loss and increased exercise in conjunction with a change in diet consistently reduce the risk of diabetes. This approach has been found to be comparable to or better than treatment with medication and should therefore be considered first-line treatment in managing women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). [2, 3] These modifications have been effective in restoring ovulatory cycles and achieving pregnancy in obese women with PCOS. Weight loss in obese women with PCOS also improves hyperandrogenic features.

MRI (or magnetic resonance imaging) scan is a radiology technique which uses magnetism, radio waves, and a computer to produce images of body structures. MRI scanning is painless and does not involve X-ray radiation. Patients with heart pacemakers, metal implants, or metal chips or clips in or around the eyes cannot be scanned with MRI because of the effect of the magnet.
Like >>409129 said, there are non-opioid painkillers. But the chemical component of opioids that relieves pain is not the same component that causes a high anyway. We already have partial opiate agonists (like Suboxone) that people have been on for years. From what I've read about a vaccine like this, opioids could still be administered with the intended effect of substantial pain relief. With no unwanted side effects (high). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, this prospect really excites me. Something like this could lead to a whole new class of painkilling drugs for people with chronic pain, allowing them to function without being high at all times.

Diet, exercise, and maintaining a healthy body weight may help many women manage the symptoms of PCOS. These lifestyle changes are recommended to help decrease insulin resistance. Weight reduction can also decrease testosterone, insulin, and LH levels. Regular exercise and healthy foods will help lower blood pressure and cholesterol as well as improve sleep apnea problems. Refraining from smoking cigarettes or other tobacco products also may lower androgen levels.

The most common form of treatment for PCOS is the birth control pill; however, other kinds of hormonal therapy may include the “vaginal ring” and “the patch”. Even if you’re not sexually active, birth control pills may be prescribed because they contain the hormones that your body needs to treat your PCOS. Birth control pills (either taken continuously or in cycles) can:

Sylvia Rebecca - "I have to share how good I feel since joining this program. I have been on it for 3 weeks. I take the supplements faithfully, started working out, eat better and drink half my body weight in water. My mood swings are better and I just feel happier. For the last 3 years I have been depressed and did not want to do anything, but look at me now. I am hoping that my period will start soon. This is the next step for me. I do not get a period without taking Provera. You guys are also an amazing group of women and so happy to be on this journey with all of you. A NEW ME!!!!!!"
Treatment for 3 months. 1 tablet per day. Bromocriptine in the form of Parlodel produced by Novartis, Turkey, 2.5 mg twice daily. Normal range 25.2mIU/l - 628.5 mIU/l. Equivalence demonstrated for the significant reduction of serum prolactin for V. agnus-castus and Bromocriptine (P = 0.96). Small sample sizes with 2 sub-groups. Insufficiently powered to correctly identify the effects; 377 participants were required (±5%, 95% confidence).
If these standard treatments don’t work, your doctor may recommend in vitro fertilization (IVF). Your egg is fertilized by your partner’s sperm in a lab, then transferred to your uterus to implant and grow. Your doctor may also recommend a surgical procedure called ovarian “drilling”. Lasers, or a very thin, heated needle, are used to pierce several holes in the surface of your ovary, which improves the chances of successful ovulation for about six to eight months. This is specifically effective for women with PCOS since the outer surface of the ovaries can become extra thick, interfering with the natural process of ovulation.
When a woman is not menstruating or ovulating, an insufficient amount of the hormone progesterone is produced. This hormonal imbalance can lead to an overgrowth of the lining of the uterus (endometrial hyperplasia) and can increase a woman's risk of developing endometrial cancer. Women with PCOS who do ovulate and become pregnant tend to have an increased risk of complications such as miscarriage.
Ascertain that kidney and liver function are normal and that the patient does not have advanced congestive heart failure before starting metformin therapy. The usual starting dose is 500 mg given orally twice a day. Because common adverse effects are nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, metformin should be taken with meals. Patients who develop these adverse effects can be instructed to decrease the dosage to once a day for a week and then gradually increase the dosage. Also, inform patients that there is a high likelihood that they will have ovulatory cycles while taking metformin. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved metformin for this indication.
Metformina.

One time when I was in a&e this junkie was having withdrawals and literally shitting and puking everywhere. The stench was unreal to the point they had to move other patients out of the area, as it was making people sick. The nurses were fucking pissed off and disgusted, of course they couldn't say anything in front of him, but they were bitching about it when they came into my room. The world is not there to entertain and 'ooh' and 'aww' over your projectile shit, Tuna. Stop being a disgusting adult baby.

She's talking about withdrawal symptoms, the nausea/puking and massive diarrhea, lmao. That's just part of withdrawal though, and I'm sure she had access to a toilet? Like, what's wrong with actually going through withdrawal? Maybe I'm old school, but I withdrew cold turkey 9 times in the process of getting clean, and that's the easiest part of recovery. Take loperamide for the diarrhea and deal w/ it. Granted, I did genuinely want to get sober, and I doubt Luna does, but still. Choices, consequences. Don't shoot heroin if you can't handle the diarrhea when you're without it. Pfffft, junkies these days.

Diagnosis of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is relatively straightforward. Common criteria established by the Rotterdam Conference in 2003 include at least two of three characteristics (oligomenorrhea, clinical and/or biochemical hyperandrogenism and ultrasound criteria) in the absence of other disease. PCOS is the most common hormonal disorder in women worldwide with prevalence estimates between 4%-8% but as high as 25% in some populations[1]. Women often initiate medical care for a cluster of PCOS symptoms (infertility, hirsutism and irregular menstrual cycles) that ultimately are not the most concerning medical consequences of PCOS [diabetes mellitus (DM), coronary artery disease (CAD), endometrial hyperplasia/cancer]. Here exists an important paradigm in the recognition and treatment of PCOS.

Getting three hours of exercise a week is enough to improve insulin sensitivity in women with PCOS, especially if you have been inactive up until now. Exercise can help you lose more weight, but more importantly, it can also help you lose the fat around your abdomen – that’s what contributes directly to insulin resistance, which fuels PCOS symptoms – even if you don’t lose any weight. That’s what happened in a 2017 small Monash University study.16  Women in this study added interval training (ie, short bursts of high-intensity exercise followed by regular or moderate intensity intervals) for part of their workout.16
Quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI) was developed to improve the sensitivity of fasting measurements. QUICKI is calculated as: 1/[log(insulin fasting) + log(glucose fasting)] and has been well correlated to clamp measurements in obese and non-obese patients[15]. QUICKI also demonstrates correlation with HOMA-IR[53]. QUICKI research calculations in young PCOS women are often identical to age matched women with DM[54].
Hirsutism is a bothersome hyperandrogenic manifestation of PCOS that may require at least six months of treatment before improvement begins. According to a 2015 Cochrane review, the most effective first-line therapy for mild hirsutism is oral contraceptives.32 Spironolactone, 100 mg daily, and flutamide, 250 mg twice daily, are safe for patient use, but the evidence for their effectiveness is minimal.32 Other therapies include eflornithine (Vaniqa), electrolysis, or light-based therapies such as lasers and intense pulsed light. Any of these can be used as monotherapy in mild cases or as adjunctive therapy in more severe cases.33

Obesity is associated with PCOS. Obesity not only compounds the problem of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes (see below), but also imparts cardiovascular risks. PCOS and obesity are associated with a higher risk of developing metabolic syndrome , a group of symptoms, including high blood pressure, that increase the chances of developing cardiovascular disease. It has also been shown that levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), a biochemical marker that can predict the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, are elevated in women with PCOS. Reducing the medical risks from PCOS-associated obesity is important.

Christina Holaday - I am so excited about the changes I have already had. I started taking the Insulite supplements as soon as they arrived. The first couple days I didn't notice much but the next day I had an abundance of energy. I wanted to do everything and had energy to do it. I love how I feel right now and will continue to focus on making the necessary diet and movement changes slowly. This Insulite System has given me my hope back. I feel happy and motivated which I haven't felt in months. I hope this can encourage others because I was at the end of my rope. Thanks for listening”

A lot of people only know things about post-junkie Luna and think that it was the drugs that turned her into a bad person. Can't really blame them; the vast majority of pre-Luna discussion/posts consist of pictures of her and her friends, her upbringing, and her short-lived college career. How are they going to know that she was a cunt prior to getting hooked?
If I were the nurse I wouldn't fucking care either. When an insane person or an addict is shitting and pissing all over the floor, all they can do is give them a bucket, qurantine them and clean it up after they're done. Nurses are human, plenty of them gag at the smell and sight of shit and vomit, just like everyone else. Just because they clean it up doesn't mean they enjoy doing it.

The study evaluated psychological symptoms in 126 women diagnosed with PCOS. Participants completed surveys using a standard tool for evaluating mental health, the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI), and their responses were compared with those of adult women in the general population and of adult women undergoing outpatient psychiatric care. While small, and not a randomized controlled trial, the study offers insight into the psychiatric manifestations of different PCOS symptoms, Reame says. Body hair and menstrual problems most strongly predicted anxiety, while obesity was most strongly associated with hostility, the study found.

A team approach involving care by primary care and subspecialist physicians can be helpful to address the multiple manifestations of the syndrome. Goals for treatment (e.g., treating infertility; regulating menses for endometrial protection; controlling hyperandrogenic features, including hirsutism and acne) must account for the patient's preferences because therapy selection may otherwise conflict with outcomes that the patient considers important. Metabolic complications should be addressed in every patient via a blood pressure evaluation, a lipid panel, and a two-hour oral glucose tolerance test. Patients who are overweight should be evaluated for signs and symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea. All patients should be screened for depression (Figure 119).

Side effects: This herb is safe for short term use and can cause digestive issues or possible a rash when in contact with the skin. You should not take this herb if you have any type of bleeding disorder because it might slow the process of blood clotting. Peony is also not recommended for women who are pregnant because it might cause uterine contractions.
Misty Robinson - I want to throw a party! I am wrapping up week 4 of the Insulite supplements. I never have regular periods unless on birth control. "Good" for me was once or twice a year.  I began clean eating and cut the caffeine. I started the supplements right before I started my cycleI. I religiously took the supplements and on Day 29 my cycle started AGAIN! My cycle was a textbook case of 28 days. This has never happened to me, and I can't believe how good it feels to have a normal cycle. I am woman! 💪 Plus, I am dropping weight. (happy face)

Women with PCOS have been shown to have higher levels of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in their blood. AGEs are compounds formed when glucose binds with proteins, and are believed to contribute to certain degenerative diseases and aging. One small study found that cutting down on dietary AGEs significantly reduced insulin levels in women with PCOS. Foods high in AGEs include animal-derived foods and processed foods. Applying high heat (grilling, searing, roasting) increases levels.
We used the following definitions. PCOS according to the Rotterdam diagnostic criteria, specified by the presence of two out of three features; oligo/amenorrhoea, hyperandrogenism and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound [29, 30]. Associated endocrine features for PCOS included elevated LH [31], which is strongly associated with infertility (p = 0.0003) [32] and miscarriage [33] and elevated fasting glucose which is prevalent in approximately 31% of women with PCOS including normal weight women [34].
My brother was a Heroin addict who started taking Benzos between his shooting up, like Luna, versus the other way around. He was an addict, he took benzos to keep up whatever feeling he was chasing. Thats inherently different than an anxiety or depression patient taking them for relief of symptoms. Im sure it does happen, there's always that risk but I wouldn't go out there and say that Benzo use is always a gateway.
Not necessarily. I've been on Benzos off and on since I was 13 (12 years) for panic attacks, social anxiety, etc. and I'm fine. There are also Benzos that give less of that 'floaty feeling' like Ativan. Not to start a discussion about what addiction is or isn't but I think how a drug makes you think and feel and want is completely personal and genetic.
