i'm guessing Luna knows two different Pats. one Pat is Patricia Allen, the one who is rlyblonde' mom who has also been buying her groceries and shit. and the other Pat is the woman with cancer. but i don't know. i just don't think rlyblonde's mom is the same pat as the cancer pat, i haven't seen anything that would insinuate Patricia Allen once had cancer or worked with Luna
Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinale): This herb is an effective liver detoxifier and bile flow stimulant. It is used to cleanse the liver and get rid of any build-up of hormones. This clean up can stimulate the production of SHGB which also means free testosterone in the blood is decreased.7 Dandelion root is used for PCOS treatment because menstrual irregularities are often affected by the liver being backed up with excessive hormones.
Treatment of PCOS depends partially on the woman's stage of life. For younger women who desire birth control, the birth control pill, especially those with low androgenic (male hormone-like) side effects can cause regular periods and prevent the risk of uterine cancer. Another option is intermittent therapy with the hormone progesterone. Progesterone therapy will induce menstrual periods and reduce the risk of uterine cancer, but will not provide contraceptive protection.

PCOS is a life-long condition and although the exact cause is yet to be identified, it is believed to have epigenetic origins, influenced by the uterine environment and behavioural factors [19]. Being overweight exacerbates all aspects of PCOS due to underlying metabolic disturbances [3]. Signs and symptoms are mediated by hormonal disorder including elevated androgens and fasting insulin, and abnormal relative ratio of the gonadotropins luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) [19]. Endocrine imbalances occur within the framework of disordered ovarian folliculogenesis, chronic anovulation, clinical signs of hyperandrogenism and metabolic syndrome [19].
Side effects: This herb can cause several side effects including muscle pain, gastrointestinal issues, weight gain, headache, dizziness and vaginal spotting. Black Cohosh has also been associated with liver disease so be watchful for symptoms like dark urine, loss of appetite, yellowing of the skin or eyes and nausea which can be signs of liver complications.

ok yeah i doubt anyone ACTUALLY said it, but i think if someone did in fact say it to her, they were just saying it to be nice. not because they meant it as an oddly kind insult. but i think luna makes up a lot of the social interactions she has. not the social interactions themselves, but the things people supposedly do or say during those interactions..

Two important things to note are that the long term safety effects of use are not known (but the drug has been in use for decades already) and spironolactone IS NOT SAFE in pregnancy, so it is commonly used in conjunction with birth control pills. This use of birth control pills also protects against abnormal growth of the lining of the uterus. Some women cannot take birth control pills, in which case it is important to use other means of birth control if you are sexually active while taking spironolactone.
The PCOS diagnosis is generally made through clinical signs and symptoms. The doctor will want to exclude other illnesses that have similar features, such as low thyroid hormone blood levels (hypothyroidism) or elevated levels of a milk-producing hormone (prolactin). Also, tumors of the ovary or adrenal glands can produce elevated male hormone (androgen) blood levels that cause acne or excess hair growth, thus mimicking the symptoms of PCOS.

If the patient does not present with ovulatory cycles at three months after ovarian drilling, then the procedure should be combined with CC treatment. The use of gonadotropins should be considered after 6 months of anovulatory cycles following the ovarian drilling procedure. Ovarian drilling should not be indicated as a treatment for menstrual irregularity, metabolic complications or hyperandrogenism in PCOS 29.

... Evidence suggesting that the syndrome may originate in the hypo- thalamus, due to a primary neuroendocrine defect in gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion that leads to increased frequency and amplitude in the pulses of the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) [11]. Recent studies suggests that ovarian innervation also plays a role in the physiopathology of the syndrome, since it has been observed that, in both, rodent with the induced pathology and women with the syndrome, there is an increase in sympathetic ovarian nervous activity [12][13][14][15]. ...

I've been taking mine for several years. I believe it's made me a bit stupid. And it is a BITCH when you don't have it, so I don't know what the fuck she is doing to herself. You feel absolutely horrible. You're used to that sedation, and not only that, but it feels terrible to walk around without taking it. The weird thing is I never imagined ever abusing it until I saw someone that did. What a fucked up thing to abuse.

Clinically speaking, the hyperandrogenism seen in PCOS is associated with hirsutism more than acne or alopecia and therefore hirsutism is an impetus for young women seeking care[2]. Many PCOS women are also overweight (BMI > 25kg/m2) or obese (BMI > 30kg/m2), although adiposity is not a defining criteria for PCOS. Obesity is highly prevalent in the general population and in PCOS women and is an independent risk factor for CAD[3]. Obesity in adolescents is correlated with insulin resistance (IR) and dyslipidemia[4]. PCOS related ovulatory dysfunction in adolescents often correlates to adolescent obesity[5]. Genetic predisposition to PCOS has been suspected for many years[6] and data link obesity and metabolic disturbances in PCOS with genetic polymorphisms[7,8]. Even male first degree relatives of women with PCOS have a higher incidence of metabolic syndrome (MS), the closest corollary to PCOS in men[9].
besides that, I'm not really sure why it takes so long. American courts in general are notoriously slow. every tiny thing gets adjourned, it's weird. I got into a methadone program while still going to court. I wasn't ordered to or anything. I told my lawyer. he told the judge. the judge said "good job, keep it up, see you next month! adjourned!" and moved on to the next person
This review synthesises the evidence for mechanisms of effect for herbal medicine in oligo/amenorrhoea, hyperandrogenism and PCOS. Laboratory, animal and clinical studies demonstrate that the herbal medicines Vitex agnus-castus, Cimicifuga racemosa and Tribulus terrestris initiate endocrine effects in the pituitary as measured by lowered prolactin and LH and raised FSH. Four herbal medicines, Tribulus terrestris, Glycyrrhiza spp., (alone and in combination with Paeonia lactiflora), Paeonia lactiflora (in combination with Cinnamomum cassia) and Cinnamomum cassia demonstrated morphological changes in polycystic ovaries and steroidogenesis, including reduced ovarian volume and cysts, lowered androgens, improved insulin sensitivity and increased oestradiol.
A final word on birth control pills, as they can make insulin resistance worse, something that would appear to be particularly harmful for women with PCOS, as insulin resistance is the hallmark of type 2 diabetes — and women with PCOS are already believed to be at a higher risk of this form of diabetes. But these worries are largely unfounded, notes Dunaif. “There’s no data to support that taking them increases the risk of diabetes. This is a good therapeutic option for young women,” she says.
One laboratory study and two clinical investigations provided evidence for the two herb combination, Glycyrrhiza uralensis and Paeonia lactiflora[53, 58, 59] (Table 1). An animal study found significant reductions in free and total testosterone following exposure to the combination [53] (Table 1). These findings were supported in two open label clinical trials including women with PCOS (n = 34) [59] and women with hyperandrogenism (n = 8) [58]. Both trials examined the effects on androgens for the aqueous extract TJ-68 (equal parts Glycyrrhiza uralensis and Paeonia lactiflora), 75 grams per day for 24 weeks and 5–10 grams per day for 2–8 weeks respectively. In the trial including women with PCOS, mean serum testosterone was significantly reduced from 137.1 ng/dL (±27.6) to 85.3 ng/dL (±38), p < 0.001 at four weeks of treatment [59]. Similar effects were observed in the women with oligomenorrhoea and hyperandrogenism which showed serum testosterone reduced from 50-160 ng/dL prior to treatment to less than 50 ng/dL [58]. However statistical significance was not reached due to the small sample size despite positive outcomes in seven out of eight participants (Table 1).
Any lawfags here that can help us out understanding this? From what I roughly gather he's only had Pre-Arraignment so today would be a formal Arraignment deciding whether or not to ask for bail. But his court info says he's already been given ROR so it seems pointless now to come back and decide whether or not to ask for bail or take him to Rikers.
Combination birth control pills — those with estrogen and Prometrium (progesterone) — are frequently prescribed to women with PCOS not looking to get pregnant. If the main concern is irregular periods and the resulting potential health risks, this is a great option. “Birth control pills are very good for protecting the lining of the uterus in women who are chronically anovulatory,” says Dunaif.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex condition that is most often diagnosed by the presence of two of the three following criteria: hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovaries. Because these findings may have multiple causes other than PCOS, a careful, targeted history and physical examination are required to ensure appropriate diagnosis and treatment. This article provides an algorithmic approach to the care of patients with suspected or known PCOS.

130mg of methadone?!!!! That's 520mg morphine. That's an insane dosage even for someone with tolerance - I have been on high dose opioids for pain for a decade and I'm scraping 250mg morphine equivalent dose. For context: the equivalent fentanyl patch would be 250mcg per hour strong. Even people with severe pain from tumours get by on no more than 100-150mcg per hour.

And that’s not all. Nurturing your health with smart daily choices also helps protect against heart disease and diabetes, major health risks for women with PCOS. And while there’s little research specifically in PCOS, a healthy diet plus exercise and stress reduction are also proven to help lift anxiety and depression, improve sleep, reduce fatigue and boost energy – additional pluses that can help you feel great.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex, common reproductive and endocrine disorder affecting up to 17.8% of reproductive aged women [1]. Medical management places strong emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach as pharmaceutical treatments appear to be only moderately effective in treating individual symptoms [2, 3]. Conventional pharmaceutical management is limited by the prevalence of contraindications in women with PCOS [3], non-effectiveness in some circumstances [4], side effects [5] and by preferences of women with PCOS for alternatives to pharmaceutical management [6]. This review examines the mechanisms of effect for a potential alternative treatment, herbal medicine, and reveals six herbal medicines with both pre-clinical and clinical data explaining the reproductive endocrinological effects in PCOS and associated oligo/amenorrhoea and hyperandrogenism.
Combination oral contraceptives, especially those with progestins of norgestimate, desogestrel, or drospirenone (because of their low androgenic effects), are among the most commonly used medications for hirsutism in women with PCOS.2 However, they are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for this use. One study found that women taking desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol (Apri) had lower hirsutism scores on a standardized scale (i.e., the Ferriman-Gallwey hirsutism score).34 Finasteride (Propecia) and flutamide (formerly Eulexin) are effective, but are FDA pregnancy categories X and D, respectively; the use of these agents for hirsutism is strictly off-label.2
Acne is common in the general population and in patients with PCOS. Hormonal contraceptives are first-line medications for treating acne associated with PCOS and can be used in conjunction with standard topical acne therapy (e.g., retinoids, antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide) or as monotherapy.19,34 Antiandrogens, spironolactone being the most common, can be added as second-line medications.19,34

Quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI) was developed to improve the sensitivity of fasting measurements. QUICKI is calculated as: 1/[log(insulin fasting) + log(glucose fasting)] and has been well correlated to clamp measurements in obese and non-obese patients[15]. QUICKI also demonstrates correlation with HOMA-IR[53]. QUICKI research calculations in young PCOS women are often identical to age matched women with DM[54].
Getting three hours of exercise a week is enough to improve insulin sensitivity in women with PCOS, especially if you have been inactive up until now. Exercise can help you lose more weight, but more importantly, it can also help you lose the fat around your abdomen – that’s what contributes directly to insulin resistance, which fuels PCOS symptoms – even if you don’t lose any weight. That’s what happened in a 2017 small Monash University study.16  Women in this study added interval training (ie, short bursts of high-intensity exercise followed by regular or moderate intensity intervals) for part of their workout.16
Dok. Magandang tanghali po. May PCOS din po ako. 19 years old po ako nung nalaman kong may sakit akong Polycystic. She originally set up his facebook account up for him so she could brag & tag Lurch in cutesy couple posts, then he totally ruined that and she made him delete it lmao. I just love how Luna's in this lovey-dovey dream world where they're perfect soulmates, while Lurch is just out on the prowl for more areolae and running out of excuses not to marry the ho he keeps as a space heater.
Weight loss achieved through dietary changes and exercise can help women with PCOS in several ways. Like men and women without PCOS, losing weight reduces a person's risk of cardiovascular disease and non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes. Weight loss also helps to lower the level of insulin in the body which, in turn, reduces the ovaries' production of testosterone.
PCOS has no cure.[5] Treatment may involve lifestyle changes such as weight loss and exercise.[10][11] Birth control pills may help with improving the regularity of periods, excess hair growth, and acne.[12] Metformin and anti-androgens may also help.[12] Other typical acne treatments and hair removal techniques may be used.[12] Efforts to improve fertility include weight loss, clomiphene, or metformin.[16] In vitro fertilization is used by some in whom other measures are not effective.[16]
