Although metformin is associated with better clinical pregnancy rates (positive beta hCG) (pooled OR 2.31; 95% CI: 1.52 to 3.51; 8 trials; 707 women), there is no evidence of better live birth rates (the main variable used to evaluate the effectiveness of a treatment for infertility) when this drug is used alone (pooled OR 1.80, 95% CI: 0.52 to 6.16; 3 trials; 115 women) or in combination with CC (pooled OR 1.16; 95% CI: 0.85 to 1.56; 7 trials; 907 women) 36. From a reproduction standpoint, there is also no benefit for its use in short (less than four weeks) or long (more than four weeks) periods prior to starting CC treatment in women with PCOS. Therefore, the use of metformin should be restricted to the treatment of glucose intolerance or type 2 diabetes in women with PCOS and should not be used to induce ovulation 9,36.

I've been taking mine for several years. I believe it's made me a bit stupid. And it is a BITCH when you don't have it, so I don't know what the fuck she is doing to herself. You feel absolutely horrible. You're used to that sedation, and not only that, but it feels terrible to walk around without taking it. The weird thing is I never imagined ever abusing it until I saw someone that did. What a fucked up thing to abuse.

The ultimate goal is to prevent metabolic disease. Metformin (1500 mg per day) compared to placebo in a prospective 12 wk randomized control trial decreased arterial stiffness (by peripheral pressure waveforms in the brachial artery) and endothelial function (measured by augmentation index). Metformin did not reduce HOMA-IR[82]. The study population was obese but young (mean age 30 years), demonstrating the ability to reduce CAD risk even in very young women. Metformin has reduced both carotid intimal media thickness and endothelin levels in obese PCOS women[83]. In many studies metformin has reduced both total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels[84-86], triglyceride levels[84] and increased HDL levels[87,88]. Animal studies have shown that acarbose given to insulin resistant rats decreased carotid intimal hyperplasia and blood flow velocities[89]. Taken as a whole, the ability of metformin (and likely other insulin sensitizing agents) to elicit an overall reduction in the risk for CAD may be easier than the ability to produce consistent measureable improvements.
Red Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus) If you like black tea but do not want caffeine, red raspberry leaf tea is a perfect pleasant tasting alternative. It is one of the most beloved herbs for women in traditional herbal medicine because it strengthens the female reproductive system on many levels. This herb can help stop heavy menstrual bleeding, is high in iron and can strengthen the lining of the uterus which can aid in conception for women with PCOS.
Ask your health care provider about a weight loss plan if you are overweight. If you’re overweight, losing weight may lessen some of the symptoms of PCOS. Talk to your health care provider or nutritionist about healthy ways to lose weight such as exercising more and following a nutrition plan that helps manage insulin levels. Healthy eating can also keep your heart healthy and lower your risk of developing diabetes.
Medical management of PCOS is aimed at the treatment of metabolic derangements, anovulation, hirsutism, and menstrual irregularity. The use of insulin-sensitizing drugs to improve insulin sensitivity is associated with a reduction in circulating androgen levels, as well as improvement in both the ovulation rate and glucose tolerance. [3] The Endocrine Society has published a clinical practice guideline on hirsutism evaluation and treatment in premenopausal women. [51] ACOG notes that eflornithine in conjunction with laser treatment is superior to laser therapy alone in treating hirsutism. [3]
Clomid Active ingredient: clomiphene $0.44 for pill Clomid is a fertility drug, used to stimulate FSH and LH production and hereby the ovaries to produce eggs in ovarian disorders. Metformin Active ingredient: metformin $0.26 for pill Metformin is a biguanide anti-diabetic that works by decreasing the amount of sugar that the liver produces and the intestines absorb.
One strategy that may help some of you: Have a big breakfast. When a group of normal weight women with PCOS got a whopping half of their daily calories first thing in the morning, insulin levels dropped 8% and testosterone levels fell 50% in three months.13 And that’s not all. These women ovulated more frequently and had improved insulin sensitivity in comparison to another group of women in the study who more of their calories at dinner.13
GlucX is a combination of natural fibers designed to help regulate the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream while helping to maintain healthy cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, and insulin levels.* Because high insulin levels promote PCOS, this product is essential to reducing insulin spiking.* Additionally, research demonstrates the benefits of high fiber intake on weight management and cardiovascular support.* GlucX contains fenugreek, a botanical, that decreases the absorption of carbohydrates into the bloodstream as well as prevents insulin spikes that occur with carbohydrate intake.* Fenugreek also has specific benefits for blood sugar balancing.

my experiences of being arrested for heroin were in manhattan and nassau county, not the bronx but I'm sure it's the same out there. there are so many heroin arrests & arrests in general in metro NY. possession just isn't important, especially since Lurch doesn't have any open cases besides that one. they would never take something like that to trial.
Chaste berry (Vitex agnus-castus): This herb has been used for centuries for hormone imbalances and is considered an adaptogen. Chaste berry is one of the most common herbs used to treat PCOS because it helps to stimulate and stabilize the function of the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is responsible for the release of luteinising hormone which can reduce the level of estrogen and androgen levels while raising progesterone levels.

Bergmann J, Luft B, et al. [62]	Randomised, placebo controlled double blind study. Three months or 3 menstrual cycles.	Women with fertility disorders, (n = 67). Two sub-groups.	Herbal extract Phyto-Hypophyson® by Steril-Pharma GmbH Herrsching, Germany; contains Vitex agnus-castus plus Chelledonium majus and Silybum marianum (St Mary’s thistle) in homeopathic form. Additional herbal extracts have reported activity in hepatic function. There are no reports for direct reproductive effects. 150 drops per day (7.5 ml per day).	Primary outcome for participants with amenorrhoea: at least one spontaneous menses.	Oligomenorrhoeic subgroup - clinical outcomes were significantly improved in the treatment arm at 82% compared to 45% in placebo arm P = 0.021. When the amenorrheic group were included in analysis, differences were not significant p = 0.19.	Diagnosis for anovulatory amenorrhoea is not well described. Non-statistically significant take home baby rates were complicated by insufficient sample size. 366 patients are required to have a 95% chance, as significant at the 5% level, an increase in take home baby rates from 6% in the placebo group to 18% in the experimental group. The authors conclude that this preparation may be useful if given 3–6 months, yet they only tested for 3 months.

Diet, exercise, and maintaining a healthy body weight may help many women manage the symptoms of PCOS. These lifestyle changes are recommended to help decrease insulin resistance. Weight reduction can also decrease testosterone, insulin, and LH levels. Regular exercise and healthy foods will help lower blood pressure and cholesterol as well as improve sleep apnea problems. Refraining from smoking cigarettes or other tobacco products also may lower androgen levels.
Well, I see it as nitpicking because it's not funny, boring and over talked about. We all know she has saggy tits, it doesn't need to be pointed out every time a new pic is posted. and I've always thought and said she hated herself before the tit thing, it's not that people are suddenly jumping to this conclusion now, it just started a discussion about it.

You can lose weight by exercising regularly and having a healthy, balanced diet. Your diet should include plenty of fruit and vegetables, (at least five portions a day), whole foods (such as wholemeal bread, wholegrain cereals and brown rice), lean meats, fish and chicken. Your GP may be able to refer you to a dietitian if you need specific dietary advice.

Nope, it was definitely her, I can't forget it. On tumblr sometime earlier last year she kept posting these depressed frantic posts about that sad disgusting old crackhead guy she loves so much and is like her only family. hes always so sick and slowly dying, she felt responsible for not being able to provide for or truly help him like he "helped" her (i suspect he just gives her drugs). there was a pic of the ambulance, her crying in the ER, and the huge bill and everything. she deleted everything within hours of posting, I guessed it was the embarrassment, but those went around in reblogs for a long time. She's always covered in a layer of filth and on her tumblr there was a pic of her doing drugs outside in the winter wearing a holey mini skirt with freshly open track marks on a swingset with a caption like "I can't even get high anymore but I'm scared withdrawal would kill me". It just made me wanna cry and I gave her the $5 even though I knew she would just use it for more drugs. Is that enabling?
Goats Rue (Galega officinalis) There are more clinical studies required to definitively show the benefits of Goats Rue for women with PCOS; however, it is the natural source of guanidine which is in an anti-diabetic drug class known as biguanides. A common drug for PCOS known as Metformin belongs to the biguanide drug class. This association alone should garner this herb a second look for treating polycystic ovarian syndrome.
If you’ve been told you have PCOS, you may feel frustrated or sad. You may also feel relieved that at last there is a reason and treatment for the problems you have been having, especially if you have had a hard time keeping a healthy weight, or you have excess body hair, acne, or irregular periods. Having a diagnosis without an easy cure can be difficult. However, it’s important for girls with PCOS to know they are not alone. Finding a health care provider who knows a lot about PCOS and is someone you feel comfortable talking to is very important. Keeping a positive attitude and working on a healthy lifestyle even when results seem to take a long time is very important, too! Many girls with PCOS tell us that talking with a counselor about their concerns can be very helpful. Other girls recommend online chats. The Center for Young Women’s Health offers a free and confidential monthly online chat for girls and young women with PCOS.
Combined hormonal birth control pills can be used for long-term treatment in women with PCOS who do not wish to become pregnant. Combined hormonal pills contain both estrogen and progestin. These birth control pills regulate the menstrual cycle and reduce hirsutism and acne by decreasing androgen levels. They also decrease the risk of endometrial cancer.
To be quite precise (Gastroenterofag here): opioids do slow the metabolism and make you crave sugary crap. Weight gain versus loss depends on whether the dose is high enough to actually be too fucked up most of the day to eat (that's why virtually all thin heroin users who go on methadone or subutex end up ballooning: they're no longer taking astronomical doses of opioids that make them too zonked out to eat, as the cross tolerance allows us to give them about 40% less of the equianalgesic dose). Sage for medfagging.
In the case of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, excess insulin causes the ovaries to produce excess testosterone, which can prevent ovulation and result in infertility. High insulin levels can also increase the conversion of testosterone into estrogen, which affects weight gain and the formation of ovarian cysts.5 Excess glucose is stored in fat cells that continue to pump out excess estrogen, further destabilizing the hormone system. In the vascular system, insulin increases the risk of heart disease and it is a known precursor to diabetes.6 Unfortunately, these risks increase as a woman ages.
Gymnema (Gymnema sylvestre) This is a common herb used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine and has been called the herbal form of Metformin.3 It is an anti-diabetic that is characterized by insulin modulating activity which means it regulates insulin levels while controlling sugar or carbohydrate cravings. Gymnema actually numbs the sweet taste areas of the taste buds which helps suppress appetite. Some research has indicated that this herb might stimulate production of cells in the pancreas which in turn increases the levels of insulin in the body.
Gerhard I, Patek A, et al. [61] Randomised, double blind, placebo controlled trial. Ninety-six women with fertility disorders and confirmed infertility (2 years). Vitex agnus-castus 32.4 mg/d in the commercial preparation Mastodynon® liquid extract produced by Bionorica, Germany. Spontaneous menstruation, luteal phase length, serum hormone concentrations and pregnancy rates. Non-significant improvement in clinical parameters in 57.6% of women in treatment group versus 36.0% in placebo group, P = 0.069. Numbers too small for statistical significance in clinical outcomes.
Obesity is associated with PCOS. Obesity not only compounds the problem of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes (see below), but also imparts cardiovascular risks. PCOS and obesity are associated with a higher risk of developing metabolic syndrome , a group of symptoms, including high blood pressure, that increase the chances of developing cardiovascular disease. It has also been shown that levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), a biochemical marker that can predict the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, are elevated in women with PCOS. Reducing the medical risks from PCOS-associated obesity is important.
Oh ffs Tuna, Courtney Love was a dirty junkie but she had style that was her own and in some of her brighter moments really knew how to dress herself. She also had talent (although i do think some farmers might disagree) - the heroin aesthetic doesn't really work if you're just a lazy do nothing that spends your days cuddling with filthy hello kitty dolls and taking pictures of your raggedy trash outfits. Go learn how to play the guitar and stop whining.
Side effects: Since licorice is one of the most widely used herbs there is a great deal of research into the possible side effects as well. It is definitely not recommended for long-term use because extended exposure may cause fluid retention, high blood pressure and potassium depletion. Some minor side effects may include upset stomach, headache, missed periods and fatigue. You should not take licorice if you are pregnant, breast feeding or have high blood pressure.
Fasting insulin level or GTT with insulin levels (also called IGTT). Elevated insulin levels have been helpful to predict response to medication and may indicate women needing higher dosages of metformin or the use of a second medication to significantly lower insulin levels. Elevated blood sugar and insulin values do not predict who responds to an insulin-lowering medication, low-glycemic diet, and exercise. Many women with normal levels may benefit from combination therapy. A hypoglycemic response in which the two-hour insulin level is higher and the blood sugar lower than fasting is consistent with insulin resistance. A mathematical derivation known as the HOMAI, calculated from the fasting values in glucose and insulin concentrations, allows a direct and moderately accurate measure of insulin sensitivity (glucose-level x insulin-level/22.5).[citation needed]
